What to Prepare Before Your Appointment

Have your documents ready but unsigned, bring valid government-issued photo ID, and confirm all signers can attend.

Before your appointment, make sure your documents are complete and ready for notarization but not yet signed. The notary must witness your signature, so any pre-signed documents will need to be reprinted. If you received documents from an attorney, lender, or other party, review them to make sure they are complete and all blanks (other than the signature line) are filled in.

Ensure every signer has a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID. Utah law requires that the ID include a photograph, signature, and physical description. Driver's licenses and U.S. passports are the most common acceptable forms. Utah Driving Privilege Cards are not accepted for notarization. If your ID is close to expiring, renew it before the appointment.

If your document requires witnesses, arrange for them before the appointment. Witnesses must be adults who are not parties to the document. The notary cannot serve as a witness. If you are unsure whether your document requires witnesses, ask us when you book and we will advise you.
